Sellers FAQ

What is Africaretails really?

Well, in explanation is an online ecommerce marketplace (you can say ecommerce shopping website if you like) for buyers and sellers, where anyone who makes/produces  stuff (anything at all) from Africa can visit and sell their products to millions of people surfing online to shop.

Essentially a meeting point for vendors, marketers, retailers, producers, and buyers who look around for interesting things to buy. A point for networking, partnerships, ideas, sales and ultimately profits.

So basically, we have taken the idea of a physical marketplace online for wider reeach, also to have a meeting point that unites Africa for her growth and prosperity.

How does Africaretails work, how do i get started?

Africaretails vendor application formOnce that is done, you will receive an email confirming your registration.

At this stage your application will be pending for review by us. After we are done reviewing your application, you will receive another email informing you whether your application was approved or denied.

If your application is approved, you may then log back into your account, click on “Vendors Dashboard” and complete your store setup and upload your products.

Once activated, you can proceed to set up your store; Upload your banner, logo, social media handles, put up your business description, upload product images (your product image must be clear, of good quality and preferably on a white background, we are very strict with this. If you do not have quality product image, you can request a photoshoot session here for a fee ), etc. All of these can be found in the “settings” section of “Vendors Dashboard”.

What can i sell?

Africaretails provides a marketplace for crafters, artists, manufacturers, collectors all around Africa to sell their African inspired creations. All goods must be produced / manufactured in Africa to be on Africaretails, else it defeats the whole purpose of this platform as it is meant to promote African products and businesses to the rest of the world.

How does logistics work?

For the sake of organization and orderlines, smoothness, ease, especially for the sake of the shoppers, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and handle logistics ourselves. Once a good is ordered (you get a notification, we also get a notification), we dispatch our delivery people to come collect (at the address you specified on your account), and deliver to the customer.

How do i get paid?

If you are registered on Africaretails as a vendor, you will receive an email requesting your account details and store details (store name and email address).

If for some weird reason you didn’t receive any of such email, well, use this form to send your bank account details (bank name, account name, bank account number,), your store name and store email address.

We will use these details to set you up on our vendor payout system.

We payout vendors at the end of every week (vendors that have made sales). As you make sales, your monies accumulate; this is visible on your vendors dashboard. Once logged in to your account
on the overview dashboard, you will see “amount owed” this is the amount of monies you will be paid at the end of the week.

Handling Returns

As a seller on Africaretails, you’re expected to clearly state your policies regarding returns and refunds in your shop policies. This includes:

  • Whether or not you accept returns
  • The time frame in which you may accept a return
  • Who will pay for the cost of return shipping for any items that are sent back to you

If you enter into a return agreement with a buyer via Conversations (chat) or Africaretails , we require you to fulfill that agreement. This may include:

  • Issuing a refund for the returned item(s)
  • Providing Africaretails with proof of shipping for a replacement item

If you do have a problem with a transaction, it’s best to contact the buyer directly via Conversations. Buyers are also encouraged to contact you if they experience any issues.
