What is Africaretails really?

Well, in explanation is an online ecommerce marketplace (you can say ecommerce shopping website if you like) for buyers and sellers, where anyone who makes/produces stuff (anything at all) from Africa can visit and sell their products to millions of people surfing online to shop.

Essentially a meeting point for vendors, marketers, retailers, producers, and buyers who look around for interesting things to buy. A point for networking, partnerships, ideas, sales and ultimately profits.

So basically, we have taken the idea of a physical marketplace online for wider reeach, also to have a meeting point that unites Africa for her growth and prosperity.

How does Africaretails work, how do i get started?

Sign up to buy or just start buying

Start by clicking on “Shop Now” (on the page menu) to take you to the marketplace page to see all product listed by different vendors in no particular order, or click on “Vendors” (on the page menu) to see the list of all vendors on Africaretails vendors listed. You can choose to shop by categories (also on the page menu) by clicking on any category listed to see all products listed there.

You can decide to shop as a guest without opening an account or open an account before shopping.

To open an account click on “Register” on the top right corner of the page, once you click the link, you will be directed to a page that looks like this

Once registered, (you will receive an email asking you to verify your account). You will then be redirected to the home page… Thats it! you are all set and ready to shop the hell out of

How does logistics work?

For the sake of organization and orderlines, smoothness, ease, especially for the sake of you our shoppers, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and handle logistics ourselves. Once a good is ordered from any store (you get a notification, we also get a notification), we dispatch our delivery people to go collect the goods from the vendors, and deliver to you the customer.

What if what i ordered wasn't exactly it? How can i return the product?

Africaretails is a venue made up of independent sellers who run their own shops. This means that each seller is responsible for their own policies regarding refunds, exchanges, and returns. Individual policies will vary from shop to shop.


Before purchasing, it is best to locate and get familiar with the shop’s Returns & exchanges policy. You can view this information by clicking on the shop owners profile, on their profile, there you will find their store policies.

Specific questions about a shop’s policies are best answered by the seller. You can use the ” Ask Question” link below the store owners profile photo to contact the seller before ordering to get clarification.

Returning an item

It’s important to have a return agreement with the seller before you ship an item back. This means you’ll want to ensure that you have the following:

  • Confirmation from the seller via Conversations or Africaretails platform that they’ll accept the return
  • A return shipping address provided by the seller
  • The timeframe in which the seller expects to receive the returned item
  • An agreement determining which party is responsible for the cost of return shipping (the buyer or the seller)

We also recommend holding on to all records of return shipment (like tracking information or a postal receipt) in case further action is required.

Issues with a transaction

Since each seller on Africaretails runs their own shop, Africaretails is not directly involved in transactions between individual buyers and sellers.

This also means when you encounter an issue with a transaction ( an item not being as described), we ask that you first contact the seller directly to work towards a resolution. Because Africaretails is not directly involved in the transaction between buyers and sellers, we are unable to issue immediate refunds for purchases.

While it’s our hope that both the buyer and seller will come to a mutual resolution, we can’t guarantee this will be the case.

If you’re unable to get in touch with the seller or work things out with them directly, the next step is opening a case by contacting us.

Please be aware that not all issues will be eligible for mediation within Africaretail’s case settlement system.

Canceling a Purchase

If you need to cancel your order, check the seller’s policies and contact your seller for help.

Note: Accepting your request is up to the individual seller. Submitting a cancellation request does not automatically cancel your order.

To find each store policies, click on the shop owners profile, on their profile, there you will find their store policies.

To get in touch with the seller:

1.) Go to the sellers store.

2.) On the left, below the sellers profile picture, there you will find “Ask a question”, click on that to communicate with the seller (Vendor).

To request a cancellation this way, you must have an Africaretaiks account. If you checked out as a guest, find the receipt that was emailed to you after purchase, create an account to in order to communicate with the seller, include your order id in your message.
